Serving Suggestions:
10-12 people: Family Size Mini-Hog Roast ® - (4-6 lb. roast)
20-25 people: Party Size Mini-Hog Roast ® - (10-12 lb. roast)
40-50 people: 2 Party Size Mini-Hog Roast ® - ([2] 10-12 lb. roasts)
80-100 people: 4 Party Size Mini-Hog Roast ® - ([4] 10-12 lb. roasts)
Cooking Suggestions:
Shoup's Mini - Hog Roast® can be grilled, cooked in the oven, or you can even put it in your crockpot.
Grill Instructions:
- Preheat grill to a moderate temperature
- Place grill rack on the highest level or use indirect heat
- Watch for flaming. You may place foil underneath if desired
- Cooking time: Family size - 2 to 3 hours, party size - 4 to 5 hours
* Cook until internal temperature reads 155 degrees. (This temperature should be taken in the center of the roast.)
- Remove from grill and let set 20 minutes before slicing
- Slice and Serve with Shoup's Barbecue Sauce
* If you like your roasts to fall apart cook roast until the roast pulls or shreds apart. This will require additional cooking time.
Oven Instructions:
- Place roast in pan or on cooking rack (not necessary to add water)
- Prepare same as grill instructions
- Oven temperature should be set at approximately 325 degrees
- Bake 2 to 3 hours family size, or 4 to 5 hours party size to an internal temperature of 155 degrees. Cover if necessary, if roast is getting too brown
- All other instructions the same as grill
Crock Pot Instructions:
- The family size Mini-Hog Roast ® may be slow cooked in a crock pot until tender
- Add 1 cup of water and follow your manufacturers instructions for cooktime
** The Mini-Hog Roast ® is best if thawed before cooking. (Let thaw in refrigerator for 1 to 2 days, according to size. Roast can be cooked frozen, but should allow for longer cooking time.)

Cheesy Grilled Potatoes
10 potatoes sliced
1 large onion
2 ½ cups Velveeta cheese
1 cup of sour cream
1 small can of mushrooms
Shoup's Seasoning to taste
Combine all ingredients and wrap in heavy aluminum foil. Place on grill on medium heat. Allow 1 hour cooking time or until tender. Makes about 10 servings.

Barbecued Baked Beans
[2] 16oz cans pork & beans
1 small onion diced
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tbs. yellow mustard
[1] 19oz jar Shoup's barb. sauce
6 bacon strips cut in squares
Shoup's seasoning to taste
Combine all ingredients, bake in oven-safe dish for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Makes about 10 servings. |
Crunchy Cole Slaw
1 head of cabbage shredded
2 carrots diced
½ green pepper diced
1 ½ cups Sugar
¾ cup Vinegar
¼ cup Water
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. celery Seed
Dash of Pepper
Combine ingredients, chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
